Clarifying Information
Non printable ASCII characters are not accepted by most tools that allow importing XML files (like Microsoft Excel).

Resolution
Upgrade to OpenEdge 11.5.1 or higher
Workaround
Go to Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> Windows PowerShell -> Windows PowerShell
(or type 'powershell' in a Windows command prompt window)
and then use the following commands to remove the non printable ASCII characters from the cust_audit.xml file:

(gc cust_audit.xml) -replace"[^ -x7e]","">TEMP_cust_audit.xml
Remove-Item cust_audit.xml
get-content TEMP_cust_audit.xml | set-content cust_audit.xml
