Corrupted prowin32.exe fails with a Microsoft incompatibility error.

Question/Problem Description
An application that had been running for some time, failed to run soon after three Microsoft updates were applied.
The error displayed in the error window was as follows:

It was found that immediately after the Windows updates were installed, the application continued to run. It was some time later, that 
prowin32.exe failed to run and the error message shown above was displayed.
Steps to Reproduce
Clarifying Information
Application had run for some years without issue.
Three Windows updates had been installed shortly before the application stopped working. The updates were as follows:
Security Update for Microsoft Windows (KB4471318).
Update for Microsoft Windows (KB4470641).
Security Update for Microsoft Windows (KB4470199).
The application ran correctly immediately after the updates were installed. It was a day or two later that the application
stopped running successfully. 
Error MessageThe version of this file is not compatible with the version of Windows you're running. Check your computer's system information
to see whether you need an x86 (32-bit) or x64 (64-bit) version of the program, and then contact the software provider.
Defect/Enhancement Number
The exact cause is not known at this time.
It was found that the prowin32.exe executable had been corrupted. 
Restore the prowin32.exe executable.
