When using 'QRYINFO' client logging, what does the "Failed" query statistic mean in the log?

For example with client logging using the 'QRYINFO' log entry type in some case the logs shows zero failures, in other cases more:

The 'Failed' indicator highlights the number of records that didn't satisfy the query on the client side. So in the case where the number is greater than zero, the query is using a client-side sort and these records were rejected by the query where clause.
