URL Name000034992
Article Number000157402
EnvironmentProduct: OpenEdge
Version: 11.1.x,11.2.x, 11.3.x
OS: Windows
Question/Problem Description
Attempting to add an assembly reference to a project in Architect or Developer Studio fails if the assembly or project is located on a network drive.
Steps to Reproduce
Clarifying Information
The attempt to add the assembly reference will fail even if CASPOL.EXE is used to mark the network location as FullTrust.
Error MessageThe following library could not be loaded:
Defect/Enhancement NumberDefect PSC00248027
The .NET 4.0 framework does not use CASPOL.EXE to implement security related to loadiing assemblies from remote locations.  Instead the application needed to create an <app.exe>.config file and set the proper attribute in the file.
The <app.exe>.config file need to have the following XML in it:

    <loadFromRemoteSources enabled="true" />

The following files need to be modified (or created if they don't exist) and the above needs to be placed in each file:
  • <Install location>\DeveloperStudio3.6\jre\bin\javaw.exe.config
  • $DLC\bin\proasmref.exe.config
  • $DLC\bin\prowin32.exe.config
Please note that the prowin32.exe.config file already contains an entry for the loadFromRemoteSources attribute but it is set to false. Change it to true.
